Does anyone have one, I've wanted one since I was 14 - I love the freedom, I've borrowed friends and bf's parents before and travelled round France, Cornwall etc. Loved it. Moving on when you choose, having everything in there etc.

Anyone like them? Have one? Splitties or Bays?

I'm looking at getting a newer VW T2. These are my favourites!

Want a pop up roof, roof racks, no tyre on front, porche wheels and the VW golf seats (IMG:http://media.profileheaven.com/images/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Oh and the visor.

Dream dream.

Always wanted one. It was either that or a 1975 Chrysler but I went for the latter. Some guy in my halls at university had one and although it was all rusty and beaten, I still loved it.

My bf used to have one and the engine blew up. That was fun. On one trip to Run To The Sun we saw the wheel go past the window.

I love the rust buckets but there is a company that imports new VW T2 and beetles from a South American factory - which is apparently one of the only places that still makes those cars! Those pictures are actually brand new VWs. With proper WORKING engines, water cooled AND power steering

Disgraceful, not one of those is a split screen camper (IMG:http://media.profileheaven.com/images/style_emoticons/default/lac.gif)

Me and my mates used to go to Run To The Sun in Newquay, epic epic times.

Hahaha, that sucks. I bet he was wheelie pissed.

That's pretty cool, I thought they stopped making them altogether. They still look good despite being brand new, as in they've not made major external changes to it. What are the prices of them?

I actually hate everything about those camper vans, ugly as sin and what not. Heard they're shit for driving too.

But I still want one, cause you could have so much fun with one of those.

I just posted pics of this company who make 'brand new' VW campers, the splitties were discontinued. I love them.
Newquays such a dive, I love it (IMG:http://media.profileheaven.com/images/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

There was a lot of beetles in Puerto Vallerta, some of the Herbie film scenes were shot around there.

May have to persuade him to go down to Newquay. Do they still do RTTS?

Can't say I actually have watched Herbie :S

I know loads of people are completely against 'new' beetles and VW campers, I think its a little OTT how devoted some people are. I don't know any one who hasn't ended up spending thousands on their old campers!

Seriously though, 45k is a lot of money. I'd just make do with one of the old ones.

People do tend to get a lot precious about these things. Fair bit of snobbery in car clubs also.

Niiiice. Have to say I'm not that mechanically minded. I'd love to just say, right I want this model with this interior and I want it to be able to actually make it to Cornwall!!!

Yup RTTS is still an annual event. Also there's a VW Fest where I live every year.

Yeah old mini drivers swear at me.

Like I couldn't take a new VW camper to Show n Shine as it would get egged, no doubt.

The thing with old minis though, bloody accordions if you crash. My friend drove into the back on a BMW. BMW was fine. We both we're half smooshed.

Yeah they aren't the safest cars on the road (IMG:http://media.profileheaven.com/images/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) however I love them.

Me and about 4/5 pals were all gonna start doing up a mini (each), and get it minted like those pics and go on long drives in them. Would of been amazing.
