QUOTE(st3veo @ Nov 21 2009, 5:26 PM) wrong, if a deaf person breeds with a normal healthly female OR (even better) 2 deaf people have a child, their child will not necessarily be deaf. its the same story with dwarfs/blind people and people born with missing limbs.
the truth is noone knows how evolution works. it is something thats baffled scientists for centurys, some even claiming evolution is a myth. Actually I'm right, that's how evolution works. (IMG: http://www.profileheaven.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Blindness or deafness is caused by a defect in certain genes and while people can carry this recessive gene and not be blind themselves, they can breed with someone who also has this recessive gene and it will cause blindness or deafness in the child. However, the child may or may not carry the defected gene himself therefore producing a healthy offspring. Evolution is all about the survival of the fittest, organisms are unlikely to pass on genes that will prevent this and if they do it is mostly always a mutation in the genes. I may be wrong about the defective genes part though, definitely right about the elephant part. Dougie or someone may have the right answer.

Dougie or someone may have the right answer. yeah but in the case of elephants 'gene' and 'deformity' isn't the problem. long-tusked elephants are still breeding like they always have done. i watched a documentry about it the other day funnily enough (well an elephant post mortem) that also said studies seem to suggest tusks are becoming shorter on males in a short space of time, thought to be evolution in the works caused by poaches. QUOTE(percepticide @ Nov 21 2009, 6:04 PM) Biology really is amazing and deals with the most complex things in the universe. Just think how a sperm and egg can carry so much information that turns into us. It's just like evolution. Things you never thought possible can arise from what seem to be the dumbest and simplest processes. i said the exact same thing before a retard called me a retard (IMG: http://www.profileheaven.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) yeah its amazing how evolution works and what triggers 'evolution' to happen the first place. humans haven't really evolved for thousands of years, we've just stayed relatively the same. maybe its because we don't need to evolve since we are the dominate species on earth with no real threat to our survival (IMG: http://www.profileheaven.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/JC_thinking.gif) but in some cases evolution is happening right before our very eyes and its a bit sad when 'we' are the cause of that and the only reason behind it (the route of all evils in the human race) £££$£$$$$$££.

QUOTE(st3veo @ Nov 21 2009, 4:59 PM) do you/i just keep saying that to ourselfs and *BAM* the mini-st3veos and umads will have no tonsils? doesn't just have to be tonsils, could be legs/teeth/hands/feet and so on. Point proven, you're a fucking idiot. Maybe you should go back to school and actually fucking learn something before trying to even have a debate, you're too stupid to understand even the basics of biology and yet, you're too stupid to even see what you're saying wrongly, you seem to keep thinking you're right, when you clearly aren't. So not only are you a moron who has little to no intelligence, you're also ignorant about it. Oh and the "Good little girl"? Haven't heard anything like that since middle school, bet you think that was a "top quality" insult or something (IMG: http://www.profileheaven.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I pity idiots like you. I wait for the inevitable "comeback", when you try and shoo me off yet again.

Middle school insults don't phase me, and judging from how you have spoken and your lack of knowledge about anything, that's all you'll be able to come out with. well fredrick it be great if you could shed light where i am going wrong and point me in the right direction and educating me on 'evolution' (IMG: http://www.profileheaven.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/emot-dance.gif) why do you keep going on about 'insults' aswell? ive not even TRIED to insult you, do you wanna know why? because haven't clue who you are. its like throwing insults at the invisable man, all i know about you is you have a weird picture of a guy with glasses saying "i can't see shit" with a nickname "are u mad" <---- just reading that alone makes you look a fucking retard, a retard who calls someone else a retard without giving any contributions into the subject themself and without explaining their own views on evolution. you can't educate me on the subject though and do you know why you educate me on subject? because you don't fucking know and do you want to know WHY i know you don't fucking know? its because the WHOLE human race doesn't fucking know so i highly doubt you do (IMG: http://www.profileheaven.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) but yeah please feel free to explain to me how 1 being passes down in their spunk knowledge of 'threats' and how they pass down they don't need certain organs anymore over a period if time, what triggers these bodily functions into making those decisions? HOW does your body pass on that information and make those decisions to the next descendants?

People do know what evolution is, but the reason you're claiming from is because it can't be proven, just like the existance of god. You can still discuss what evolution is because it's a theory, but it will never be proven, it's as simple as that, but well that's all you CAN do with theories. The thing is you think about Evolution as being 1 massive change, like between 1 generation to the next 1 has tonsils, and the next generation won't, which isn't the case, evolution is small microscopic changes that no-one is even aware of which come down to the environment and the creatures which survive in it. Take for example an animal which can survive to a minimum temperature of -5 degreesC in a cold environment, but in the species there are some which over-time have thicker fur due to perhaps a slight birth defect over generations of their family compared to the rest of their species, if the temperature of the environment dropped by -1 degreeC and most of the species was killed due to this environmental change, the ones which have the thicker fur will be able to survive, and spread these genes of the thicker fur to their children. Why does it happen? Probably due to the gene's of both parents, when these are put together it will always cause a different reaction, and you take traits of both parents. When taking traits of both occasionally you may get 2 parents which have the same trait and thus enforce the trait even further (I.e. If both of your parents are really tall, it's likely that you will be taller than them) this or even maybe like I said, slight birth defects during pregnancy. Anything else?

Finally he put his points across to argue back against, big post of shite though because what you’ve just written is like a beginners guide to evolution for dummies and the basics we all know. birth defects do not count and ive gave an explain to rubbish your claim on this, in the elephants case too those unfortunate elephants who have had their tusks stolen will start off as healthy elephants beforehand, your claim is like saying every person whos had their leg blown off and has a kid afterwards, their child will only have 1 leg (IMG: http://www.profileheaven.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Also i never said there’s drastic changes between each generation, all i asked was WHAT in a living body makes those decisions and not only makes those decisions but pass those blueprints onto to the next generation over a period of time and actually makes them happen not only in invidudal cases but altogether as a species? I used elephants as an example due to their threat from poaches and how the male elephants tusks of today are getting smaller. how is evolution working with the elephant when one of those elephants can’t mate afterwards because its fucking dead shot in the head and had its tusks pulled out from the root? just as I thought though you cannot answer this because you don’t know. It was this question though that warranted your “muppet” reply to me though followed by “retard” before crying about middle-school insults that I never even tried to insult you with (IMG: http://www.profileheaven.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) if I’m a muppet and retard for not knowing, I guess the whole human race is and so are you for failing to answer it. All that’s left to do is post this:- (IMG: http://lolimals.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/funny-elephant.jpg)

Exactly. Steveo: "Thus the creationist's favourite question "What is the use of half an eye?" Actually, this is a lightweight question, a doddle to answer. Half an eye is just 1 per cent better than 49 per cent of an eye..." - Richard Dawkins There's a better quote than that out there somewhere but I can't find it. Essentially, what he's arguing is that evolution is an extremely slow and gradual process, operating on a micro scale. Intelligent design argues that the full eye must be present... a 100% complete eye in order for it to work. This argument contrasts with natural selection that argues the development of the eye was a process that took millions of years, beginning from 0.1% and gradually evolving to the eye we know today. It's these tiny, microscopic changes over millions of years that explain evolution, not a sudden change in one generation to the next.

Then what the fuck is the problem? What's so fucking hard to grasp? It's not just birth defects like I said, there's combination of 2 species DNA which can create something unique to the species, and if said thing helps them survive, it thrives and spreads throughout the species, which is where evolution comes from. You're forgetting it's all to do with environment. The body itself doesn't say "We need to survive more" or "We need this to help us survive" it simply just happens and then the environment decides weather this thing survives or not, it's nothing to do with a body saying "We need to evolve" even thinking such is fucking stupid. In said example with elephants, with their tusks getting smaller, if all the elephants with big tusks are hunted, but the ones with smaller tusks are not, the elephants with smaller tusks thrive and breed. That's all there is to it, there is still now elephants with huge tusks, but as they are hunted more and more, there is less chance of them breeding, and the gene for large tusks is taken out of the species. Do you fucking understand now?

Dude, I explained this. Elephants with big, long tusks are poached and are killed. Elephants with shorter tusks aren't poached and killed because they won't provide as much Ivory. = no competition between the elephants. Therefore, elephants with shorter tusks breed with the females. = those genes are passed down.

QUOTE(st3veo @ Nov 21 2009, 10:31 PM) you seem to be the one with the problem and you seem to be the one finding it difficult to grasp. Read the edit, if you can't fucking understand such a basic concept then don't bother talking to me. Oh and have fun reading this, it's exactly what we fucking told you 5 times over, maybe you'll shut the hell up now: http://www.greendaily.com/2008/01/21/eleph...chers-to-blame/QUOTE The story is a good example of evolution in action: poachers have been killing so many of the desirable long-in-the-tooth animals that the smaller-tusked males have had more mating opportunities than they would have had otherwise. (Elephant females find a long, commanding tusk to be quite attractive, apparently.) This means that elephant babies are more likely to have short tusks. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
