Okay, so it's finally come to that time where I want to get some sort of art inked onto me.

One of the ideas I have at the moment (and, I've been thinking about it for a while) incorporates a scene involving my two daughters. Lemme picture this for a moment and see what you think.

It involves my eldest daughter looking out into the distance (similar to the photo on my profile of her looking out of the window in black and white) holding onto a book of some sort, with my younger daughter laid front on as though she's reading from another book, with a ribbon going around the eldest containing text of their names and dates of birth.

I can probably understand a setting like that would take a fair bit of time to get done, where would it be recommended to have something like this inked onto me, and how much roughly would this set me back cost wise?

Advice gratefully appreciated from all walks, by all means. (IMG:http://media.profileheaven.com/images/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

For something like that I'd say you would probably have to go for it on the back. Maybe even on your side.

Price really does vary. Like everyone else will say, Billy would be the best to ask on that.

Talking 500+ roughly.

Not entirely sure how big you'd want it etc.

Well, like Lorr and Ross mentioned, probably the back or side area are the two areas I'd be considering to have them.

I wouldn't want it too big, but noticeable at least. It'd definitely be a stand out piece, for sure.

If you draw out the idea or explain it to tattoo artists around your area, im sure they would estimate a price.

its going to have to be pretty big mate to get the details of faces. that eliminates alot of space on your body to side, back or thighs. id say a good sized shoulder piece would look awesome like that mate but price wise wont be able to help as i dont do portraits and dont know what the price range where your froms like. maybe between 200-400 for a good well sized piece

I'd say 500 for a master piece mate, probs 6 inches high etc.

Would be epic

That sounds fair enough. As for portrait work I can understand that's a lot more complex than your standard tattoo, in a way.

I was in town earlier with a very good friend of mine while they got a Celtic-styled cross on their right wrist area and was speaking to the guy that was doing it as he inked. I mentioned this same setting to them and they mentioned that they knew a couple of people that did art for their parlour in question. Checking out what they have initially (they had a separate room covered in artwork from this same person) looked quite shit hot from where I was sitting. Plus, they're also in university as we speak doing fine art, so I'm gonna check on that in a li'l more detail and see how it goes before going for the full job doing, really.

I'm making sure that I do a lot of homework on it as well, as I know it's not your run of the mill kind of job too. Better to be safe than sorry, I think.

I've to get Jess into the setting as though she's "laid down reading a book" yet. Once I've gotten that together I'm gonna look around town (not just the one you mentioned) to get a best idea of where to go with this.

That's the thing. Sod what other people think of it, so long as you know it has the meaning you wanted the tat to capture, then it's all good.
